Introduction

This is a specialized, one-month, one-week training program offered to social workers certified by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. The program is designed to provide a comprehensive theoretical and practical foundation that prepares participants for effective clinical practice in medical social work settings. The program covers a wide range of core competencies, including clinical interviewing, social assessment, case formulation, documentation, intervention planning, Crisis and Emergency Intervention, and adherence to professional ethics. The curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge and applied skills with a strong focus on healthcare settings. Participants will be exposed to various clinical models, such as brief therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). They will also be trained in the use of psychosocial assessment tools and learn how to manage complex psychosocial cases involving chronic illness, addiction, violence, and family problems. The program places significant emphasis on reflective practice, multidisciplinary teamwork, and evidence-based social work approaches.
