This educational activity addresses advanced mechanical ventilation strategies for pediatric and neonatal patients. It focuses on clinical decision-making when conventional ventilation fails, advanced ventilation modes, waveform interpretation, patient–ventilator interaction, and management of ventilation-related complications. The activity integrates lectures, case-based discussions, and workshops to support evidence-based practice, patient safety, and optimized respiratory outcomes in critically ill infants and children.

Explain the principles, indications, and escalation criteria for advanced mechanical ventilation in neonatal and pediatric patients.
Differentiate and select appropriate mechanical ventilation modes based on patient age, weight, disease condition, and clinical response.
Apply optimal ventilator settings and individualized ventilatory strategies, including noninvasive ventilation and high-frequency ventilation, to improve respiratory outcomes.
Interpret ventilator graphics, waveforms, and pulmonary mechanics to guide ventilator adjustment and clinical decision-making.
Identify and troubleshoot patient–ventilator asynchrony, ventilator alarms, and ventilation-related complications to enhance patient safety.
Demonstrate safe initiation, adjustment, and weaning of mechanical ventilation, and respond effectively to respiratory emergencies in neonates and children using evidence-based and ethical principles.
