Introduction

This comprehensive course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with essential  knowledge and skills for effectively managing respiratory diseases in critically ill  neonates & Pediatric patients in the Intensive Care Unit. Through evidence-based  instruction, participants will gain a deeper understanding of mechanical ventilation.

  • Goals & Objectives:-
  • Describe the rationale and key components of Early Mobilization protocols for children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit  (PICU). 
  • Interpret common Mechanical Ventilator waveforms and identify potential issues. 
  • Explain the indications and fundamental principles of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) in neonates.  - Identify and apply evidence-based practices in the respiratory care management of critically ill patients in the ICU.  - Apply specific strategies for optimizing oxygenation and ventilation based on patient assessment and monitoring parameters.  - Recognize the signs and symptoms of respiratory emergencies in the ICU and describe the initial steps in their management.

  • This course aims to improve healthcare professionals' ability to manage ventilated patients with respiratory diseases by  enhancing their knowledge and skills in evidence-based strategies, ventilator management, and troubleshooting to reduce  medical errors and reintubation rates.

Dr.Shadi Noaman Masoud Garrada

-Highly experienced Neonatology Consultant at MCH-Dammam, with expertise has been developed in the specialized care of newborns. Significant contributions have been made as a Member of the Central Committee for the Development of Neonatal Protocols within the Ministry of Health. Furthermore, extensive experience has been gained in the development and advisory roles for Neonatal Intensive Care Units across Saudi Arabia.

Dr.Fatimah Abdulrahim saman Awhaid

-A distinguished Pediatric Intensivist Consultant, board-certified by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties in Pediatric Intensive Care. Extensive expertise in the critical care management of pediatric patients across a wide spectrum of complex medical and surgical conditions has been developed. A commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based care within the pediatric intensive care setting is demonstrated.

Ms.Sakinah Almashhed

-Motivated and dedicated higher education professional with over 5 years of experience as a lecturer and department head in respiratory therapy at a leading health college. Adept at delivering high-quality education, mentoring students, and fostering an engaging learning environment. Proven leadership in curriculum development, faculty collaboration, and department management. Seeking expertise in respiratory care and academic leadership to a dynamic institution, while continuing to advance the field of respiratory therapy through education, research, and innovation.

Dr.Shoug Yousef Al Humoud

-Chairperson of the Respiratory Care Department at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, Assistant Professor, and consultant at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. With over 22 years of experience in teaching, leadership, and academic development, a journey dedicated to advancing respiratory care education. Holds a Master's degree from Northeastern University in Boston and earned a PhD from the University of Birmingham in the UK, with a research focus on neural plasticity. Additionally, served in key leadership positions, including Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and Vice Dean of Research and Innovation, where played a role in shaping educational policies and fostering scientific research. Research focuses on respiratory care education, obstructive sleep apnea, and pulmonary rehabilitation. Served as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and for Research and Innovation, and operates sleep and smoking cessation clinics

Mr.Abdulaziz Mansour Alyami

-Senior Respiratory Therapist at John Hopkins Aramco healthcare Center

Mr.Mohammed Abdulhamid abdullah Alomran

-Group Director of Allied Health at EHC, a prominent leader holding a Master of Science in Respiratory Care. Possesses substantial speaking experience at various educational events and previously served as the Head of the Respiratory Care Department at MCH-Dammam, demonstrating a solid commitment to advancing Allied Health initiatives.

Ms.Omnia Abdullah Almuhanna

-Senior Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with an MSc, a robust background encompassing clinical care, education, and healthcare quality has been established. Multiple leadership and quality-focused roles have been held within the Respiratory Therapy Department at MCH and throughout the East Health Cluster, including service as the RT Taskforce Leader. Furthermore, the position of Program Deputy for the Saudi Diploma in Critical Respiratory Care is currently held.

-RT Critical care Supervisor in MCH-D with 10 years of experience in Respiratory Care. Skilled in supervision, effective communication with staff and other departments, problem solving, and time management. Committed to achieving outstanding results by enhancing the department and improving the quality of care provided.

Mr.Mohammed Ali Julaih

-A dedicated and experienced Respiratory Therapist, contributions have been made across diverse hospital areas including the NICU, PICU, ER, and Pediatric ward. A strong background in the management of complex neonatal and pediatric respiratory cases.

Mr. Mahdi ali al waif

-A Senior Respiratory Therapist with over ten years of experience in diverse hospital settings, including a role at Maternity and Children Hospital Dammam, has developed a strong clinical foundation. Extensive experience in managing complex neonatal and pediatric respiratory cases and the application of advanced ventilation modes has been acquired. Furthermore, over three years have been dedicated to leadership, instruction as a SHA Instructor, and the sharing of knowledge and skills within the respiratory therapy field.
